With a special passion in HR Reinventing and Agile HR
The role of HR is under tremendous change, from focusing mainly on policies and processes to understanding that the future for HR lies in creating conditions for people to perform and be happy. By removing impediments, we can instead maximize engagement and employee satisfaction that will fuel speed and adaptability in a common, strategic direction. HR can support the change towards a more agile organization – here we have the opportunity to really make a difference.
My favourite quote: “Reinvent yourself. Reinvent your company. Reinvent your world.”
I believe that personal reinvention/development is needed in order to change and grow. All that starts within ourselves, with self reflection. I have taken this path to find balance in my life and I walk the talk daily by being open minded, listen what others have to say, being a great role model to my children, enjoying tasting new food and trying out new restaurants. If you consciously decide to look within yourself and make changes in your thinking, acting and behavior you can come a long way.
Learn a new thing every day. Start small and keep it simple. Go AgilePeople!
Q&A with Maja (The Expert Perspective)
Q:OUR TEAM PERFORMS WELL, WHY FOCUS ON DEVELOPING PEOPLE?
A: You can copy almost everything today, use the same materials, production processes and marketing campaigns, but you cannot copy people and it is people and relationships that make up our organizations not processes, methods or IT-systems. And people who continuously improve are the people that will make a difference as the only competitive advantage will be the company who learn faster than everybody else in the future.
Q: WE ARE INVESTING HEAVILY IN NEW TECHNOLOGY, WHY BOTHER WITH HR?
A: Your investments won't yield returns without people having a sense of continuous progress and strong purpose. Instead of bosses who supervise task realization, you need managers who coach and provide direction, instruction, accountability and opportunities to learn. Future winner will be those who make sure employees on all levels contribute to the development of new ideas, add value to the company as a whole and continuously grow their competencies and experience.
Q: DOES ENGAGEMENT REALLY IMPACT COMPANY PERFORMANCE?
A: There is a strong correlation between employee engagement and happy, loyal customers, a profitable company and the possibility to reach your higher purpose or vision. So profitability really starts with the engaged employees, NOT with happy customers. Without engaged employees the probability of a profitable company is considerably smaller. And my conviction is that many more people would feel more engaged at work with the right prerequisites. And these prerequisites are what Agile HR will help to achieve.
